Congressman Tom Kean, representing New Jersey’s 7th district since 2023, recently addressed several issues through a series of tweets. Kean, who succeeded Tom Malinowski in Congress and has a long history in New Jersey politics, expressed his views on congestion pricing, recognized local law enforcement heroism, and condemned political violence.
On June 16, 2025, Congressman Kean criticized the implementation of New York City’s congestion pricing plan. He stated that “Since January 5th, NJ commuters have faced a flawed and unfair cash grab under NYC’s congestion pricing plan.” He attributed the creation of this program to Governor Hochul and NY State Democrats and emphasized its negative impact on New Jersey commuters.
Later that day, at 17:15 UTC, Kean acknowledged Officer Alex DiCairano as “#NJ07 Law Enforcement Hometown Hero”. He praised Officer DiCairano from Hackettstown Police Department for his courageous actions during two life-threatening emergencies within months. In April 2024, Officer DiCairano performed CPR and used an AED to save lives.
At 18:36 UTC on the same day, Congressman Kean condemned recent violent acts against politicians in Minnesota. He described the events as “heinous and unacceptable acts,” expressing gratitude to law enforcement for apprehending the suspect. He urged for swift justice and called for unity against political violence.
Thomas Kean Jr., born in Livingston in 1968 and residing in Westfield, has served in various capacities including the New Jersey General Assembly from 2001 to 2003 and the New Jersey Senate from 2008 to 2022. A Dartmouth College graduate with a BA degree, he continues his public service career with focus on issues impacting his constituents.
