Congressman Tom Kean, who represents New Jersey’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, announced on November 17, 2025, that he will introduce legislation to establish a national ombudsman for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
In a post published at 15:19 UTC, Kean stated, “I will be introducing legislation to establish a national ombudsman for individuals with intellectual & developmental disabilities. Seven years ago, I helped create NJ’s first office, and now I am working to give families nationwide the same support.”
Later that day at 21:26 UTC, Kean addressed health care policy efforts in another post: “I am working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to address rising health care costs. Thomas Kean Jr., born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1968 and currently residing in Westfield, has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after replacing Tom Malinowski. Before his current role, he was part of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2001 to 2003 and served in the New Jersey Senate from 2008 to 2022. Kean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College.
