On May 19, 2025, Congressman Kean recognized Detective Nicholas Ortiz as the “#NJ07 Law Enforcement Hometown Hero” for his actions in May 2024. “This week’s #NJ07 Law Enforcement Hometown Hero is Detective Nicholas Ortiz of the Peapack & Gladstone Police Department.” He commended Detective Ortiz for responding to a first aid call involving a man injured by a lawnmower blade.
Later that day, Congressman Kean attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony for Mendham Troop 1. Kavin is co-founder of Fight for Freelancers, a nonpartisan grassroots organization advocating for freelance workers. “This afternoon, I met with Kim Kavin from Long Valley, who is co-founder of the nonpartisan, grassroots organization Fight for Freelancers.” She testified before the Education & Workforce Subcommittee on supporting freelancers.
Thomas Kean Jr., born in Livingston in 1968 and residing in Westfield, graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA. His career includes service in both the New Jersey General Assembly and Senate prior to his current congressional role.
