Becoming a culturally responsive educator includes understanding the stereotypes and biases of the communities you serve. During this session educators will engage in discussion and deconstruct some stereotypes typically heard and shared regarding AAPI communities including the model minority myth. Participants will also explore cultural differences in and perspectives surrounding topics such as education and mental health.

Presenters: Rajneet Pimmi Goomer, New Jersey Early Intervention Operations Manager for the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager for the Division of Family Health Services at NJDOH, Departmental collaborative Diversity & Inclusion Committee member and Kathy Lu, Co-Founder of the Immigrant History Initiative
