Congressman Thomas Kean Jr., who has represented New Jersey’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently shared several updates via social media concerning constituent services, public safety, and tax policy in New Jersey.
On July 14, 2025, Kean announced upcoming collaborative office hours for constituents: “Join Team Kean for Joint Mobile Office Hours this week! On Thursday, my team will be co-hosting Sparta office hours with staff from the offices of Senator Space, Assemblywoman Fantasia, and Assemblyman Inganamort. Our staff is available to assist with federal or state”. The event aims to provide assistance on federal or state matters through coordinated efforts between congressional and state legislative offices.
Later that day, on July 14, 2025, Kean addressed weather-related safety concerns: ” Flash flood warnings are in effect across Union and Somerset Counties, along with other parts of New Jersey. Please stay safe—avoid driving through flooded areas and monitor local forecasts for updates.” He advised residents to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions affecting multiple counties in the region.
On July 15, 2025, Kean highlighted recent tax data impacting his constituents: “New data from 2024 confirms that New Jersey residents pay the highest median property taxes in the nation. That is why I fought to secure SALT relief, so middle-class families in our state can finally get the break they deserve.” He referenced efforts to address high property taxes by advocating for State and Local Tax (SALT) relief measures intended to benefit middle-class families.
Thomas Kean Jr., age 54, was born in Livingston and resides in Westfield. He previously served in both chambers of the New Jersey Legislature before his election to Congress. Kean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College.
