Congressman Tom Kean, who represents New Jersey’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several community issues and legislative initiatives through his social media posts.
On October 1, 2025, Kean extended greetings to the Jewish community for Yom Kippur. In his post, he wrote: “G’mar Chatimah Tovah. Wishing our Jewish community a meaningful and peaceful Yom Kippur. May this sacred time bring you renewal, strength, and hope.”
Later that evening, Kean highlighted Breast Cancer Awareness Month by meeting with a local constituent and advocate. He stated on October 1: “At the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, today I met with Scotch Plains constituent and Susan G. Komen advocate, Kathi Wolder. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Kathi shared her story and highlighted the critical importance of frequent and accessible screenings.”
Addressing veteran affairs on October 2, Kean discussed challenges faced by student veterans regarding GI Bill benefits and introduced new legislation aimed at resolving these issues. He posted: “Too often, student veterans exhaust their GI Bill benefits too quickly and are left to either pay out-of-pocket or pause their training until the next academic year.
The Veterans Flight Training Responsibility Act fixes that problem. I am pleased to re-introduce this legislation”.
Thomas Kean Jr., born in Livingston in 1968 and currently residing in Westfield, has represented New Jersey’s 7th District since replacing Tom Malinowski in 2023. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of both the New Jersey General Assembly (2001-2003) and Senate (2008-2022). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College.
