Congressman Tom Kean, who represents New Jersey’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, marked several notable anniversaries and observances in a series of posts on his official Twitter account between April 30 and May 2, 2026.
On April 30, Kean commemorated the anniversary of George Washington’s first inauguration by posting: “237 years ago today, on April 30, 1789, George Washington was sworn in as our first President at Federal Hall in New York City, formally establishing the Executive Branch as created by the Constitution. President Washington’s legacy endures as a testament to the values our”.
The following day, May 1, Kean recognized Jewish American Heritage Month with a message of support for the Jewish community amid concerns over antisemitism. He stated: “May is Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to honor and recognize the accomplishments and contributions of Jewish Americans. In the face of rising antisemitism, we remain steadfast in our support for the Jewish community here in New Jersey and around the world.”
On May 2, Kean honored the memory of New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster on the anniversary of his death. He wrote: “Today marks 53 years since New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster was murdered in the line of duty on the New Jersey Turnpike. A Vietnam War veteran, he gave his life in service to our state, leaving behind his wife and young son. On this solemn anniversary, we remember his”.
Thomas Kean Jr., born in Livingston, New Jersey in 1968 and currently residing in Westfield at age 54, has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 7th district since replacing Tom Malinowski in 2023. Before entering Congress, Kean served in both chambers of New Jersey’s legislature—from 2001 to 2003 in the General Assembly and from 2008 to 2022 in the Senate—and holds a BA from Dartmouth College.
