On August 9, 2024, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) introduced the IVF for Families Act, a bill aimed at providing an income tax credit for certain fertility treatment costs. A recent study revealed that a single IVF cycle—comprising ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer—can cost between $15,000 and $30,000, depending on the center and the patient's medication needs. Medications alone can account for up to 35% of these charges.

"Everyone knows a neighbor, colleague, or friend who has struggled when trying to grow their family and benefited from IVF," said Congressman Kean. "I have heard firsthand from constituents of the many emotional and financial struggles that they face throughout this process. Making this remarkable technology more accessible can and will change countless lives for the better. I will continue to support a woman’s right to choose and am proud to introduce this bill to provide greater support to those who need help growing their family."

Congressman Kean is also a cosponsor of H.Res.1037, a resolution supporting the protection of IVF treatments led by Congresswoman Chavez-Deremer, as well as H.R.9141, a bill led by Congresswoman Cammack designed to help families more effectively plan and manage medical expenses, including those related to IVF.

Full text of the bill can be found HERE.
