(August 30, 2024) BERNARDSVILLE, NJ – Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) announced that his casework team has returned more than $8,652,279 to constituents.

Since the office opened in January of 2023, Congressman Kean and his team have closed over 2,641 constituent cases, representing over $8,652,279 dollars returned back to New Jerseyans in the 7th District. From the beginning of Congressman Kean’s term in office, Team Kean has helped constituents save money and obtain benefits from the VA, IRS, Social Security Administration, and other federal agencies. The top three groups of people served are seniors, veterans, and families.

“I am excited to share that our constituent service team has returned over $8 million dollars back to constituents through our casework services,” said Congressman Kean. “This achievement underscores our commitment to serving New Jerseyans and ensuring they receive the benefits and assistance they’re entitled to. This is a testament to the hard work of my team and our unwavering commitment to addressing the needs of every individual we represent.”

In a recent case that conveys the impact of dedicated constituent services, a Clark resident and her husband faced a challenging situation regarding their Medicare Part B enrollment. The couple had private insurance through the husband’s union and sought to enroll in Medicare Part B under the Special Enrollment Period due to the impending termination of their private coverage.

Despite their eligibility for special enrollment, they were initially advised by a Social Security representative that they could not enroll until the next open enrollment period and would face a late enrollment penalty. Undeterred, the constituent reached out to our office for assistance. With proof of their private health coverage in hand, our office took immediate action by contacting the Social Security Administration (SSA) to provide the necessary documentation. This intervention ensured that the couple was enrolled in Medicare Part B without incurring any late enrollment penalties.

In expressing their gratitude, the Clark resident wrote: “Alleluia! Praise the Lord! Burden lifted!! From the bottom of our hearts thank you for your intervention in this situation.”

This casework highlights the vital role of constituent services in addressing and resolving issues affecting local residents ensuring they receive the benefits and support they are entitled to.
