Today, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) was appointed to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce for the 119th Congress. The committee is known as the oldest standing legislative committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congressman Kean expressed his enthusiasm about this new role: “I am honored to be selected to serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee, where I look forward to working with my colleagues to address the critical issues facing our nation's energy future, research and development, and economy.” He emphasized that their work will focus on innovation, sustainability, and opportunities for New Jerseyans and people across the nation.
The committee's responsibilities cover a wide range of areas including telecommunications, consumer protection, food and drug safety, public health and research, environmental quality, energy policy, as well as interstate and foreign commerce.
