On August 1, 2024, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) presented a $277,000 ceremonial check to the Borough of Mount Arlington. The funding was secured through the FY2024 Community Project Funding process and will be used for purchasing security cameras and automated license plate readers for public spaces in Mount Arlington, including municipal buildings, facilities, parks, attractions, and points of entry.
“This $277,000 grant secured for Mount Arlington will fill an existing gap in critical public safety measures for the Borough,” said Congressman Kean. “As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I have and will continue to prioritize critical security infrastructure improvements for New Jerseyans. This grant not only supports the enhancement of our infrastructure but also shows our commitment to supporting local law enforcement efforts. By investing in both public safety measures and the resources that support our police force, we are ensuring that Mount Arlington's officers have the tools they need to protect and serve our community effectively.”
"Thanks to Congressman Kean this federal funding will provide critical public safety and security measures to not only the residents of the Borough of Mount Arlington but surrounding communities in northern New Jersey as well,” said Michael Stanzilis, Mayor of Mount Arlington. “I truly appreciate that Congressman Kean is bringing federal money back to New Jersey and back to Mount Arlington. My number one priority as Mayor is ensuring the safety and security of our residents. This funding is a tremendous help in achieving that goal."
“In light of recent public safety concerns across New Jersey, this money will be paramount in helping law enforcement provide the safety and security our communities need and give Mount Arlington residents the peace of mind they deserve,” said Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25). “Thank you to Congressman Kean for your efforts to secure this funding and I look forward to working together to keep the Garden State a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”
“Small towns like ours are increasingly being targeted by car theft rings,” said Assemblywoman Aura Dunn. “The funding for license plate readers and security cameras that Congressman Kean has brought to the district sends a strong message that we will outsmart criminals and keep our communities safe. Securing our communities is not a partisan issue; these critical resources will ensure we meet our shared public safety needs.”
“We appreciate the dedication of our county sheriff and all law enforcement officers to ensure the safety and security of our citizens. This funding from Congressman Kean will help support their efforts to protect residents of Morris County,” said Commissioner John Krickus.
