Before joining Congress, he was part of the New Jersey Senate from 2008 to 2022 and served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2001 to 2003. Born in Livingston, New Jersey, Kean graduated from Dartmouth College and currently resides in Westfield.
In a tweet on March 27, 2025, Kean commended efforts by federal and local law enforcement agencies. "This is what strong law enforcement policies look like. Taking the truly worst-of-the-worst criminal gangs off our streets. Outstanding job by ICE, ATF, FBI, and local law enforcement. This is law and order."
In another tweet dated March 27, 2025, Kean appreciated Vice President's interaction with U.S. Marines, stating, "Awesome- thank you, @VP for spending time with our Marines."
Kean expressed concern about the impact of the I-80 closure on small businesses in a tweet on March 29, 2025. He wrote, "Small businesses are struggling due to the I-80 closure. I appreciate Governor Murphy’s decision to declare a State of Emergency earlier this month, but we must act now to secure crucial federal resources. Delaying is not an option – local businesses are at risk of deep revenue."
