(August 5, 2024) HOPATCONG, NJ – Last week, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) met with Hopatcong Mayor Marie Galate ahead of the FY25 appropriations discussion to gain insight into the new lead service line replacements in Hopatcong, Sussex County. Congressman Kean requested $1,000,000 for the Borough of Hopatcong in this year’s FY25 appropriation process. This funding would be used for completing the initial phase of lead service line replacements along various roadways in Hopatcong.

“After visiting impacted neighborhoods and hearing firsthand the need for infrastructure improvements, I am even more committed to securing the funding for Hopatcong to replace the lead lines,” said Congressman Kean. “These replacements will ensure families throughout Hopatcong have access to clean, safe drinking water. I will continue to fiercely advocate to bring critical federal funding back to New Jersey to improve the lives of my constituents throughout 7th Congressional District, and beyond.”

“On behalf of the residents of Hopatcong Borough, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude for the hard work and dedication advocating for the funding needed to replace our lead service lines,” said Marie Galate, Mayor of Hopatcong. “The generous grant totaling $1,000,000 will provide significant relief to our residents, allowing them to successfully replace their lead service lines. This critical infrastructure improvement ensures safer drinking water and a healthier environment for all the residents of Hopatcong. We are grateful to Congressman Tom Kean for his dedication to public safety and health and welfare of our community.”

Congressman Kean requested 15 projects in this year’s appropriation process.
