Yesterday, Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) visited the Washington Township Police Department in Morris County to gain insight into local law enforcement needs ahead of the FY25 appropriations discussion. Congressman Kean has requested $560,000 for Washington Township in this year’s FY25 appropriation process. The funding would be used for communication technology upgrades for emergency operations of the police department to address the growing needs of the community.

“As we move forward with the FY25 appropriations discussion, I am committed to securing $560,000 for Washington Township,” said Congressman Kean. “This funding will be instrumental in upgrading communication technology for emergency operations, ensuring the Washington Township Police Department is equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community effectively and efficiently."

“We appreciate the hard work and dedication of our Police Department to ensure the residents of Washington Township live in one of the safest towns in New Jersey,” said Matthew Murello, Washington Township Mayor. “This funding included in the federal budget by Congressman Kean will help to support the infrastructure of our police department’s headquarters building.”

“I am honored that the Congressman would take the time to visit our headquarters and take the time to see how the grant money would be used,” said Jeffrey Almer, Washington Township Police Chief. “I also want to thank Mayor Matt Murello for his hard work on this as well. I am exceptionally proud of my officers and the department, and this will help us continue to be one of the best with one of the finest facilities.”

Congressman Kean requested 15 projects in this year’s appropriation process.
