(December 13, 2024) WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. has expressed his approval following the House of Representatives' passage of the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025.
Kean emphasized the significance of this legislation in enhancing the quality of life for servicemembers while maintaining the strength of the U.S. military. He stated, "I commend the passage of the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act. This legislation's passage will significantly improve our servicemember’s quality of life while continuing to reinforce the superiority of our nation’s military."
The bill is noted for its bipartisan support and aims to invest in various aspects related to national defense. It includes provisions such as increases in housing allowances, a 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted personnel, improvements in military housing, and initiatives supporting military families.
Specifically for New Jersey, Kean highlighted ongoing support for research and development at Picatinny Arsenal and efforts to promote workforce development within the defense sector. The legislation also extends support to New Jersey companies involved with the Submarine Industrial Base, including those participating in Virginia and Columbia Class Programs.
Kean concluded by stating that this legislative effort continues to "support our allies and partners abroad, and most of all, the American warfighter."
