Thomas Kean Jr., currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for New Jersey’s 7th district, shared several updates via social media this week. His communications covered public awareness initiatives, local disruptions due to power outages, and condolences for a community member's passing.
On March 6, 2025, Congressman Kean highlighted the importance of "#SlamtheScam—a day to raise awareness about government imposter scams. Hang up or ignore suspicious calls and messages. Government employees will NEVER threaten you or demand immediate payment."
The following day, on March 7, 2025, he reported a power outage affecting his district office: "The power is out in my District Office, affecting over 660 customers in #NJ07. As a result, my District Office will be closed for in person visits for the rest of the day. If you need assistance, please contact my DC Office." He also provided information on contacting Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) for further assistance.
Later that same day, Congressman Kean expressed his condolences over the loss of Officer Nicholas R. Popleon: "I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Officer Nicholas R. Popleon after his battle with lymphoma. His dedication to serving the Fanwood community will never be forgotten." He extended his sympathies to Popleon's family and colleagues during this challenging time.
