On October 4, 2024, Congressman Tom Kean Jr. visited Mountainside, New Jersey, to discuss local law enforcement needs and priorities with Mayor Paul Mirabelli. The meeting took place ahead of the FY25 appropriations discussion.

Congressman Kean has requested $63,250 in funding for Mountainside Borough Hall as part of this year's appropriation process. This funding is intended to enhance security measures by purchasing and installing new security cameras at both the Borough Hall and the fire department. Additionally, a computerized badged locking system is planned for installation.

"With the uptick of crime in our neighborhoods, it is crucial that public safety buildings are updated with modern technology to enhance security measures, improve surveillance capabilities, and ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and staff alike," said Congressman Kean. "Borough Hall contains the police department, senior center, recreation center, building and construction office, tax office, clerk’s office, and municipal court. I will continue to advocate on behalf of Mountainside to get this community the funding they deserve."

In total, Congressman Kean has requested funding for 15 projects during this year's appropriation process.
